there are so many contributing factors that determine one's "style." i think, for me, my "style" just depends on how I feel at the time, how the subject speaks to me, and how well I know the person who has commissioned me. if I am asked to do a formal sketch and I'm not feeling it, unfortunately the sketch must wait. whether it's formal or funky, straight lines are out. there just isn't any character left in a straight line and that kind of perfection must be left to building in the real world. architecture has feeling, and my attempt is to capture that feeling and channel it to paper through pen and marker with. perhaps and added element here and there to add interest or humor. i have attempted to digitally produce my work like some many of the young artists, however, it is too easy to become reliant on the "undo" button. with pen and markers, once it hits the paper it's there to deal with; a challenge that enhances projects sometimes...and other times? well, when all the colors mix together to gray, you just start over.
